At emLab, Jason studies the potential for demand-driven ocean conservation. In particular, he focuses on how and when cell-based seafoods may lead to meaningful conservation benefits for wild fisheries. Jason is a PhD candidate at the Bren School studying industrial ecology and economics, with an M.E. in civil and environmental engineering and a B.S. in biochemistry. His previous research attempts to apply an economic lens to questions of sustainable consumption. Outside of work you can find Jason surfing, tinkering with something mechanical, or freediving.
