Sara is a fisheries data scientist at emLab where she works collaboratively with Global Fishing Watch to advance joint research priorities and provide technical support to projects using Global Fishing Watch data. She is particularly interested in understanding how global satellite data on fishing activity can be leveraged to inform more equitable and sustainable fisheries management. She has a Masters in Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UC Santa Barbara and a Bachelors in Zoology from Oregon State University. Prior to her work at emLab, Sara worked as Divemaster, taught marine ecology courses, and led public outreach events in Thailand, the Bahamas, and California. When she’s not in the office you can find her reading at the beach, surfing, or adventuring with friends.
