Mukta is a Graduate Arnhold Environmental Fellow at emLab. She is conducting research on climate resilient marine protected areas and executing a literature review to study how dive tourists financially value Marine Protected Areas. Prior to coming to UCSB, Mukta completed a ClimateCorps Americorps Fellowship with the City of Oakland's Sustainability Program. She also worked for the Marine Bioacoustics Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where she studied the effects of navy sonar on blue whale vocalizations. Mukta completed her B.S. from UC San Diego in 2017 and is now working on her Ph.D. at UCSB. When she's not at her computer, she can be found attempting new recipes, swing dancing, and enjoying the outdoors.
