Abigail Kirk

Bio

Abigail is a Data Scientist who leverages her interdisciplinary background to investigate risks associated with using marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) technologies as carbon mitigation tools and design de-risking strategies that will incentivize greater mCDR project investment in the carbon credit market. Abigail received her B.S. in Environmental Economics & Policy from UC Berkeley, and went on to work for Allbirds, a sustainable shoe company, where she helped design and manage the company’s Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) strategies. She then went on to receive a Master of Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UC Santa Barbara, where her master’s capstone team collaborated with Conservation International and the University of Liberia to develop a novel bioeconomic model to estimate the impacts of distant water fishing policies on local fishing communities in Liberia. In her free time, Abigail likes to train Muay Thai, curate the perfect playlist, and bake banana bread.
