The Environmental Market Solutions Lab (emLab) at the University of California Santa Barbara’s (UCSB) Bren School of Environmental Science and Management is pleased to announce that Science Director Christopher Costello has been selected to join the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors.

The Council will advise Governor Gavin Newsom and Keely Martin Bosler, the Director of the California Department of Finance, on wide-ranging economic issues to keep California moving toward an economy that is inclusive, resilient, and sustainable. Dr. Costello is excited by the opportunity to bring interdisciplinary insights from his work at emLab and UCSB to help California implement effective, durable, and equitable policy solutions.

In his statement today, Governor Newsom noted that “we need to invest for the future, adapt to a changing climate, and keep our budget balanced. This Council will keep its pulse on what’s happening in our economy while making policy recommendations to prepare us for what’s to come.”
